DOT APPROVAL FOR HIGHWAY USE
With the exception of brake hoses and brake fluid, there are no State or Federal DOT specifications regarding the materials, processes, or style for the other components within a brake system. Specification that would regulate calipers, rotors, hats, hubs, braked pads, and other individual components within the brake system do not exist. It is the responsibility of the trailer manufacturer to configure a trailers brake system to perform within Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. It is therefore NOT accurate to identify any brake system component other than hoses or fluid as "DOT approved"
WARNING • DO NOT OPERATE ANY TRAILER ON UNTESTED BRAKES!
BEFORE PULLING THE TRAILER, TEST THE BRAKES UNDER CONTROLLED CONDITIONS IN A SAFE AREA. TEST THE SYSTEM IN STATIC CONDITIONS FOR THE ABILITY TO HOLD PRESSURE BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO MOVE THE TRAILER. ALWAYS UTILIZE SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEMS AND ALL OTHER REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT WHILE PULLING THE TRAILER.
